Opening game of season
A large crowd turned up at Underley Park for the opening game of the season v Aspatria. Kirkby's young pack struggled against their more experienced opponents, and gave away too many penalties, in all aspects of play resulting in a half time score of 5 - 12, with Kirkby's try coming from No 8 David Cooper Dunn. Aspatria centre Matt Irving slotting over 4 penalties.
Kirkby's defence held firm, and was impressive throughout the match, however a break down the blind side, was finished by off stand off Ryan Scott, and a further penalty by Irving completed the scoring, 5 -23. Kirkby have a large number of injuries and unavailabilities but the youngsters played their part.
