Mini & Youth Rugby (from reception to Yr13)
With teams for each age grade, we have the team for you:
Micros (Reception - Year 1)
When and where
The Micros meet every Sunday, usually on the training area adjacent to the marquee. Training times can vary but the usual ‘kick off’ is 10.00am.
What
The aim of the sessions is to have fun whilst starting to get the basic skills required for any ball games. The games are all rugby based but might not all be recognisable, as such…
Minis (Years 2-6 / U7s - U11s)
Things start to take shape...
Fun is still the emphasis as we help the players get to grips with the game. Each school year has its own age grade team. We start with Tag rugby with tackling introduced from U9s.
Each age group also plays a number of friendly fixtures and Festivals (including our own) across the season. These, in accordance with RFU guidelines, are non-competitive, mixed ability events.
For information on how to join the micros/minis please contact John Ladell - minis@klrufc.co.uk.
Academy Colts Rugby
Technical and Personal Development...
Still bucket loads of fun, its now to time to get an understanding of the technical aspects of the game.
Each year new aspects of the game are built on so by the time the players reach Colts age they are playing the game you see on any given Saturday played by the Seniors.
Through Years 7 - 13, our coaches work with the players on both their development as teams and also as individuals. The rate each player grows during this period varies dramatically and with this in mind our focus is very much on our players understanding the game and all the positions as opposed to being 'pigeon-holed' into a certain position.
