League grid and results – week 8

Not a good week for Kirkby, as we slip to the foot of the table after our defeat away at Guisborough. Losing another player to an early red card never helps, but a spirited first half performance and an evenly matched game made the score 17 all at half time. However the extra man for the home team eventually took its toll, and Guisborough stretched their lead, and although Kirkby came back strongly towards the end, we couldn't just manage to get the fourth bonus point try. Elsewhere, Keswick had a resounding win away at Carlisle 7 - 58, and Aspatria went down to leaders Middlesbrough 36 - 7. Upper Eden lost away at Northern 39 - 10. Durham City won at home to Morpeth 33 - 30, and West Hartlepool beat Consett 39 - 28. Here is a league table, not good viewing but still a long way to go. We were in a similar position last year, but rallied well after Christmas.
