Tri Tigers Girls’ U18 . . .

The Tigers welcomed the County Durham Stingers (a similar conglomerate) to Underley Park for their second league fixture. We were given the rare honour of playing on the first team pitch and wanted to put on a show. Playing down the slope we kicked off and pinned Durham back with our eager defence despite them having some strong carriers. Gaining possession we went wide early and classy centre A.Kenyon showed great footwork to carve through and open the scoring. Minutes later it was deja vu as another break saw her score again this time closer to the posts allowing I.Ford the chance to convert. Tigers were now in full flow and skipper R.Richardson soon extended the lead, with the conversion again knocked over.
Further first half tries were added by H.Beattie, A.Maine and E.Wrennall with two being converted. A moment of slackness allowed Durham to notch a try leaving the half time score at 38-5.
The Tigers continued to play expansive rugby up the slope with further tries being scored by G.French and E.Webb (1 converted) before a couple of missed tackles allowed Durham to power over for 7 points. This spurred the Tigers on and our classy backs scored two more tries through A.Kenyon and E.Wrennall both converted by I.Ford. This brought the score to 64-12 and under age grade rules, the referee ended the official contest. Overall a good performance, tries scored by players in every area of the team with willingness to play open rugby and do the physical stuff too. Pre game we talked about adapting to opposition and the referee. This we did well and someone who has more card tricks than Dynamo had to keep them in his pocket. Seriously though thanks for refereeing Sir, you let the game flow well.
