Scott Armstrong takes over as Head Coach and appoints his back room team.

Scott Armstrong who joined the club as Rugby Development Officer, Fitness and conditioning coach and a player in our Senior squad has taken over the role as Head Coach from John Pickthall who stepped down from the role at the end of last season.

‘It’s exciting times at Kirkby Lonsdale and I look forward to building on all the success enjoyed under John (Pickthall).’ Scott commented. Scott, who has played European, Premiership and Championship rugby with clubs including Northampton Saints, Yorkshire Carnegie, Moseley and Fylde continues,’ The commitment shown by all at the club is infectious. With one of the best Mini and youth structures in the North and a togetherness that makes being part of the club very special’.

Joining Scott’s coaching team is Danny Paul and Gareth Gore. Danny joins the club as Forwards coach from Hull Ionians and brings with him a wealth of playing and coaching experience which includes stints in the higher echelons of rugby including Europe, Premiership and the Championship most recently playing for Yorkshire Carnegie. Gareth played for our first team last season and continues to involved as a parent and coach with our mini rugby teams. Gareth having played for his local team and in the premiership in Wales moved to the area and made over 200 National league appearances with Fylde, Preston Grasshoppers and Kendal.

Our coaching team look forward to the new season both in terms of the 1st XV and in developing the next generations of players. ‘We have already planned our preseason training and some exciting warm up matches including home fixtures against Wharfedale and Fylde.’
