KL Colts Academy Launched

Kirkby Lonsdale Rugby Club has launched a Colts Academy which will enable provision of a first class coaching experience for the under 17 and 18 Age Group at the club. A combination of internal and external coaching resources will provide the players with modern and inspiring coaching. The aim is to provide each player with the necessary skills, technical ability and game sense so that the individual and team potential is fully realised. As an integral part of the ongoing development of the squad we are pleased to announce that there will be a number of high profile Coaches involved in training sessions throughout the season including Brian Ashton OBE, Ian Peel and James Tiffany who are each recognised as experts in the field of coaching. The Colts Academy forms a seamless link between the Mini/Junior Section and the Senior Teams at Kirkby Lonsdale Rugby Club.

John Anderson, Mini and Youth Chairman commented "There has been a lot of thought and effort put into our Colts Academy . We are aiming to provide every player in the squad with the necessary skill and understanding in order that they maximise their potential in future years. Kirkby Lonsdale wants to continue its reputation as being a centre of excellence for Rugby within the area. It is vitally important that we demonstrate to all those associated with the club that we are committed to expert coaching which is why we are providing this framework for our Colts"

Kevin Hobbs, Colts Coach and Club Coach Coordinator said "The continuous development of our young players is of vital importance to the club. We see this recent development of the Colts Academy as an important milestone as it will inspire our players and enable them to receive instruction and advice from some of the best coaches in our region. Rugby is a fantastic team game and we want Kirkby Lonsdale players to excel and achieve their maximum potential now and in the future. This program of coaching has an initial agreed funding for 4 years and therefore or younger age groups can be assured that they will also be able to benefit from this coaching structure"
